LOL I can''t do either of those (handstands or backflips), but I am very pleased with the outcome. The Republicans of Nueces County have spoken, and are ready for that leadership we''ve lacked. It''s time for new energy, and an accomplished community leader to take the reigns of the Republican Party! I''m anxious to see what direction Mr. Bertuzzi takes the Republican Party with his fresh approach. I''m also excited to see that change is afoot on the Democrat Party end. I personally know Alex, and I would like to see him win on that side.

I can''t help but think about Joel''s attack on Eric during the city council elections and how it''s ramifications opened up the oportunity for Mike Bertuzzi to win. Don''t get me wrong, Mike Bertuzzi won by his positive attitude and outlook. However, Joel''s comments revealed his shortcomings which gave Mike the opportunity to be successful.

Bertuzzi came to A&M and made an impression with the College Republicans. He tapped into some young men with energy who I''m sure helped his campaign. I don''t think Yowell ever came to the campus. He was incompetant IMHO. Bertuzzi will sink the Democrat hold in this county. He has the leadership to do it.

I doubt very much if he can scrounge enough votes to get ""Lying Loyd"" Neal our next county judge. I doubt if God himself could pull of that miracle.

They estimate it will take about 96,000 votes to accomplish this feat. Will you be one of those votes?

curmudgeonPosts: 2329

Yeah . . . 3/9/2006 11:26:54 AM
. . . right!

Re: Yeah . . . 3/9/2006 1:58:34 PM
Do you doubt the estimate?

Re: Re: Yeah . . . 3/9/2006 2:07:40 PM
I doubt it very seriously. 96,000 votes is almost half the population of ""The Backwater Berg by the Bay"". I surely don''t beleive Neal has that many supporters. I doubt Oliveras has that many either.

Re: Re: Re: Yeah . . . 3/9/2006 8:27:24 PM
There''s roughly around 320,000 people in Nueces County. 96,000 would seal the deal...for Neal, I feel....for real.

I''m not in any crowd. I''ve taken sides with people that would benefit my interests and career best. I can give a rats ass what you think about me, so save the personal attacks for when you''re not hiding behind a computer.

I voted in every race in the Republican primary but left Neal''s blank. If he had run against a stray dog, I would have voted for the dog. Hardcore Harry

I''m curious 3/9/2006 8:12:01 PM
Does anyone know how many registered voters there are in Nueces County.

Re: I''m curious 3/9/2006 9:22:28 PM
March 7, 2006 article in the Caller Times reported 193,079 voters in Nueces County.

Re: I''m curious 3/10/2006 1:31:26 PM
Number of registered voters is almost meaningless. Nueces County has a population of about 320,000. With 28% of the population under 18 years of age and allowing for no persons to be convicted felons or not of sound mind, that leaves you with a voter eligible population of about 229,000. 194,000 registered voters in the county (as per the County Registar''s office) would mean that Nueces County has 85% of it''s possible voters registered. Many counties in Texas have more registered voters than people because the voter rolls need a good purging. Recent action by the ledge'' has made it easier to remove names that don''t belong on the list but it will still be a long time before ""number of registered voters"" actually means anything. http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/48/48355.html

Re: Re: I''m curious 3/10/2006 7:43:00 PM
The reason I ask that question is because from adding returns up in the paper, according to my math maybe 20,000 people voted. The I read on this forum that Neal needs 96,000 votes. I''m sure if he got 96,000 he would surely win, but IMHO if they let everyone vote twice they couldn''t come up with 96,000 votes
